Ronald Ockhuysen

Board Member

Journalism is Ronald Ockhuysen’s first love. After studying Cultural Studies at the University of Amsterdam, he worked as an art critic, media editor and film journalist at de Volkskrant. In 2008, he moved to Het Parool, where he became editor-in-chief in 2014. Since 2021, he has been Director of the VandenEnde Foundation, the cultural fund established by Joop and Janine van den Ende.

Ronald brings his extensive practical experience to his role as a board member of Stichting Veronica. It enables him to assess the urgency of applications and to evaluate the added value of technological innovations for the sector. His priority is to safeguard the balance between people and technology.

“Journalism, an indispensable pillar of any democracy, is and remains above all a human endeavour. In many places, journalists and journalism itself are under increasing pressure, as are other pillars of independence such as science and the judiciary. Stichting Veronica does everything it can to uphold journalistic values. That is an absolute necessity to protect a healthy and fair society.”
