About Stichting Veronica

Stichting Veronica is committed to a vibrant, independent and sustainable media landscape in Europe. We support journalistic organisations and media entrepreneurs that contribute to independent access to information, innovation and a stronger journalistic infrastructure.

We do this in a variety of ways. Where an organisation has the potential to develop a sustainable business model, we also consider providing loans or making investments. In this way, we aim not only to enable high-quality journalism, but also to help organisations become financially stronger and less dependent on external funding.

About the role

As Operations & Finance Manager, you make sure the organisation runs smoothly. You work closely with the team and with external service providers. Because we are a small team, the role is broad, covering everything from financial administration and reporting to HR, legal matters, IT, governance and office management. You do not need to do everything yourself, but you are responsible for maintaining oversight, ensuring processes are properly organised and knowing when to bring in external expertise.

What will you do?

  • Finance. You support day-to-day financial processes, the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly reporting to the Board, the annual accounts and the annual audit. You help ensure robust financial processes and internal controls.
  • Operations. You make sure the organisation runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis, covering areas such as processes and IT management, general inboxes, post and document management, contact with suppliers, and booking travel for team members.
  • HR. You manage HR administration, coordinate payroll matters with our external administration provider, and support the recruitment and onboarding of new colleagues.
  • Board and Supervisory Board. You provide organisational support for meetings of the Board and Supervisory Board, assist with agendas and minutes, and help organise meetings and gatherings where needed.
  • Contracts and administration. You ensure accurate administration of donations and investments, including the preparation and signing of contracts and maintaining complete and up-to-date records.
  • And more. In a small organisation, unexpected tasks will always arise. You take ownership of what needs to be done and what fits within the role.

Who are we looking for?

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in a comparable, broad role.
  • A higher professional or university-level standard of working and thinking, gained through education and/or experience.
  • Strong organisational skills: you are able to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while maintaining a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English.
  • A positive, proactive and practical attitude: you see what needs to be done and take ownership.
  • You work well with different types of people and communicate carefully, accessibly and diplomatically with colleagues, partners and suppliers.
  • A high degree of integrity and a strong commitment to Stichting Veronica’s mission.

What do we offer?

  • A competitive salary reflecting your background and experience.
  • 30 days of annual leave based on full-time employment, plus 8% holiday allowance.
  • A one-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
  • A good pension scheme.
  • A commuting allowance.
  • Opportunities for personal development through training and education.
